In the 90s Syd Mead was hired to reimagine 2 anime properties… Battleship Yamato and Turn A Gundam, then named Turn X.  They aren’t especially gundam looking and are very Syd Mead looking… which is fine by me.  Frankly most Japanese anime mechas are beyond impractical to almost silly with rifles, shoulder pads, shields and roller skates… Syd clearly was thinking about actually building this.  Which, you know, is totally practical y’all. 

(tbh my distinction using the term mech is… mech is western, mecha is eastern… even though technically mech is just really a Battletech term where mecha is used everywhere else)
